Lisle Programs With a Difference!

Did you ever think that there must be another way to really encounter the world and the diversity of human culture than the frenetic, tourist routines or rushing off to volunteer for a very short ecotourist vacation?
Have you been looking for a way which would allow you to reflect on the events, savor the moments, and talk with others who are experiencing these events and persons who have learned from them?
Have you been looking for a way to celebrate with others, who like you, are searching for ideas about who you are, what is centrally important in your life, and what the wider world has to teach you about these things?

Programs, then, would be offered in diverse locations with leaders specially chosen and trained to be not only intimately knowledgeable of the location and culture, but also to be skilled in drawing out from the group the insights and understandings which have surfaced within the events of the trip. Programs would dedicate a period of time for personal reflections, for small group sharing, and for celebrating the new and fresh ideas which are being spawned throughout the experience.

In short, programs would use the location for the more essentially human process of becoming aware on an individual basis of the ways in which the experience might impact the future choices.

If you have, then the kind of organization which would provide these opportunities would be similar to Lisle. Lisle is a small, volunteer organization committed to experiences which guide persons to become global human beings. Lisle assists individuals to search their own values and ideals and the implications of their ideals for living as a global citizen.

Purpose and Results

Lisle programs are designed to provide interpersonal growth through a combination of structured and non-structured activities, many of which are based in group activities and decision-making.

Locations

Starting in 1936 the Lisle Fellowship offered programs in Lisle New York. During the 1940's Lisle began offering programs in other locations around the US, particularly Colorado and California. During the 1950's Lisle began programming in other countries, particularly Europe. In the late 1950's, and after, the locations slowly gravitated to the less developed areas of the globe.
