Friday morning we will gather and share current happenings in Lisle. In the afternoon we will visit the Lisle Archives at the Ward Canaday Center of the University of Toledo Library, giving us all a chance to see in person some of the materials stored there. Archivist Barbara Floyd will meet with us to discuss the collection and help us direct some of our future contributions. See the Spring issue of Interaction for suggestions of archivable items that you might want to donate.
During our visit to the archives, we will have an opportunity to add video oral histories, view the Lisle films, audios, and videos, and other similar activities. We are also planning times for Lislers from specific units and programs to visit with one another. So bring other Lislers, your friends, spouses, children & grandchildren. Wrapping up Friday will be an informal and exciting Lisle Party celebrating 70 years of Lisle and Walt Ligon's 80th birthday. Bring your memories and plan on hearing lots of stories of Lisle Past, Present, and Future. It should be great fun.On Saturday morning from 9-12 we will hold the annual business meeting for the Lisle. Part of this meeting will be hearing about the great successes of our mini-grant programs. Mini-Grant awards for 2006-7 will be discussed. In the afternoon we will participate in one of several deputations to local programs of interest. Plans are in the works for a work project to a residential school for incarcerated youth which is run by the Toledo Public Schools. We will have a meeting with the faculty group which has raised money to endow a chair in Islamic Studies at the University of Toledo. They will discuss how, when, why, and what has been accomplished. Another visit will be to the International Institute in downtown Toledo. They work with immigrants on issues of visas, and other regulations.
At 7 PM that evening, at our annual banquet, our invited guest, Linda Henderson will speak to us about her efforts with the Peace Alliance Campaign to Establish a US Department of Peace. She will show us a 30 minute presentation of Marianne Williamson, the internationally acclaimed author and lecturer, about the effort to create a department of peace. Of course there will be lots of opportunities to ask questions and hear from other Lislers.Sunday morning will be the first board meeting for the newly elected and continuing board members. At that time the Mini-Grant selections will be made for the 2006-7 funding cycle. All Lislers are welcome to attend.
