All members and friends of Lisle are invited to participate in an exciting weekend in San Francisco at the 2010 Lisle Annual Meeting. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, November 5 through Sunday, November 7. You won't want to miss this opportunity to renew old contacts with Northern California Lislers and Board Members from across the country. The housing venue will be the Fisherman's Wharf Hostel on the San Francisco Marina (Ft. Mason). Hostel International proclaims this is the most popular hostel facility in the country, with direct views of Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, and the Marina area. It is also very affordable ($28/night) for dormitory style accommodations, including linen and towel service and breakfast. Private rooms are available, but more expensive. More details about the hostel amenities can be viewed at http://sfhostels.com/fishermans-wharf.
Because the hostel does not have meeting rooms for our exclusive use, the Friday, Nov. 5 convening will be held about a 10 minute drive from the hostel in the Mary Elizabeth Inn, 1040 Bush Street, (near proximity to the Chinatown district). This facility is a residence for employed single women (much like a YWCA) owned and operated by the United Methodist Church's Women's Division. Bay Area Lisler's who want to connect with the Friday program should go directly to the Bush Street address rather than to the hostel. The Saturday and Sunday activities will be planned for both on-and off-site of the hostel, including some free time to explore the Fisherman's Wharf area nearby. Saturday evening will culminate with a hosted banquet at the home of Amar and Vinita Singh, in Menlo Park, about 30 miles south of San Francisco near Stanford University. They are Uncle and Aunt to our event coordinator (and new President of the Board, Smita Patel. Local Lisler's can participate in the full day's activities by coming to the hostel by 9:00 AM or a partial day participation by arriving in Menlo Park around 6:00 PM.
Because this popular hostel gets fully booked several months in advance, the Arrangements Committee needs to know by August 31 your intention to attend and your housing requirements (2 or 3 nights? dorm bed or private room?). For Thursday arrivals, San Jose Airport (SJC) or Oakland Airport (OAK) could be considered, with accommodations for that one night being in local Lisle homes. All those who plan to use the hostel must respond by August 31 to Smita Patel, at smitspat@gmail.com or 408-518-7853. For planning purposes, an RSVP contact should be made by October 1 by the "local" Lislers who plan to attend any part of the weekend activities. The Arrangement Committee would love to have people arrive early and stay late. Smita offers her place near San Jose as a crash pad while you visit people or spend more time sight-seeing. Come join us and "lose your heart in San Francisco!"For more information contact the Lisle office at 800-477-1538, or email the Lisle Office.
