Flights will be into Austin International Airport – if we can coordinate arrival times, a van will pick up Lisler’s, or, there is a shuttle to the Holiday Inn and we can meet you there. Costs will be manageable as we will be cooking our own meals but we haven’t estimated those costs yet.
Friday Oct 31st will be highlighted by a noon meeting at Southwestern University in Georgetown. We have created a one-hour introductory program about Lisle and the Global Seed Fund in hopes of generating interest in the students and alumni who attend from the University. If this initial meeting goes well, we will refine this presentation to give at various venues each Board Meeting in order to expand our member and mentor database. Friday evening (Halloween!) will be barbecue and campfire (with some Ghost Stories from John’s books???).Saturday is the Annual Meeting. This will be held at a meeting room in Leander and will include a catered lunch. At this meeting, we will be introduced to the recommended Seed Fund recipients for the new year cycle. We would like as many members to attend as possible—members elect the new Board and Officers. Saturday evening we will take the new light rail train from Leander to 6th Street in Austin and enjoy wandering the Austin City Limits music scene.
Sunday morning is the Board meeting with the new Board—all members are invited to attend this also. It is generally over by 12:00 with transportation scheduled back to the airport (or Barb would love to take anyone who wants on a picnic/hike (1/2 mile) up the riverbed to see the dinosaur footprints!) As part of our Annual Meeting in October, we will have a laptop computer signed on to SKYPE, an Internet-based audio service that can be used for teleconferencing.
