Members are elected to the Board for the contributions of time and expertise they are able to give to Lisle, not the depth of their pocketbooks. Consequently, it is important that those who cannot afford travel expenses, wholly or it part, are assisted financially. The expectation in return is that they participate fully and continue to work for Lisle between meetings. The same expectation, of course, holds true for all members. Because of budget restraints, priority for travel assistance will be given to those members who are able to attend the entire meeting.
There is an annual budgeted amount for Board Travel Assistance. When that is gone, there is no more available. Therefore, we allocate 1/3rd of the budget to the each meeting. Anyone needing financial assistance is to advise the Office 6 weeks prior to the meeting of the amount needed. If you cannot attend without 100% financial aid, it is necessary to advise the office early. At this 6 week mark, the office will compare the budgeted amount (say $1,300) to the requested funds (say $1,800) and everyone will get 72% of the amount requested. In order to stretch this budget as far as possible, it is critical that you take advantage of all cheap methods of travel -–planning far in advance, using red-eye flights, etc.In keeping with Lisle tradition, individual needs not met by the guidelines written above will always be considered.
